I have found that most small businesses view social media as just another thing to add to their already busy schedules. The work that they have been able to accomplish have yielded very few results. So you may be considering using that time you use on social media to put toward other projects. Honestly, I do not blame you! I feel that it is very important that to consistently review your daily tasks to ensure that you are being as productive as possible.
I would like to present you with 5 Reasons Why Your Business SHOULD Use Social Media, and possibly reconsider why the work you are putting in on social media is not performing.
1. Increase Traffic to your website!
It is important to understand the real reason you are doing all this work on social media. Now, this varies a bit depending on what type of business you own or operate ( Brick-and-Mortar, E-commerce, B2B ) , but you should always be working to bring qualified customers to your store for a conversion. You need to sell your “widget” . Meaning, the strategy in which you post your content must have that in mind. With Social Media posts, it must send consumers to your online brick-and-mortar, your virtual showroom. This is the first step to getting a user to become a customer.
2. Build Credibility and “Be the Expert”
By posting relevant content about products, features and services you become an expert in the field and you build credibility within your industry. When your social media followers read your posts, and linked content to your website, your are taking “mind-share” within their marketing periphery and they will consider you when they are in the market.
3. Increase Client Retention
This part is huge, but also very tricky. Your current customer base has already experienced your brand and should have fallen in love with your process. The time and money that it takes to ask them to convert again is much lower than someone that has yet to have that experience.
Although the trap that I see businesses make over and over is the “uninspired” tactic of always posting sale information and why now is the best time to buy.
Please do not misunderstand the importance of having a clear call-to-action in every post you make, but a customer that just purchased a $50,000 pickup truck from your dealership has no interest in seeing why you believe today is a better time to buy, and today’s deal is better. They need to see posts that are now relevant to them. If this is not done, they will fall away from your pages EdgeRank and will no longer be influenced when they are again in the market.
It all comes down to posting relevant engaging content. If you are continually earning the engagement of your followers, you will surly see higher volumes of repeat business
4. Connect With Your Target Audience
Advertising is tough. The marketing net that is cast seems to be so broad, making it extremely difficult target the exact customer that you know will buy your product. Plus it’s difficult to measure your success and see whether your investment returned a gain.
Would’t it be nice if there was a media platform, where you can target only the people you know have an interest in your products and have the ability to see when they make a conversation and measure that investment?
Social Media is that media platform! Facebook specifically, has the most extensive and robust marketing tools I have ever seen allowing you to connect specifically with your target audience based on thousands of attributions and behaviors.
Digital marketing in general allows you see exactly how your advertising budget is working as an investment to your company. With detailed analytics, you can review and make adjustment almost instantaneously!
5. Increase Brand Awareness
My final point is one that I personally do not discuss with often with our partners. Branding is traditionally expensive and in most cases lack a meaningful call-to-action. Over time, branding is an important tool to use, where I spend most of my time is helping business find ways to increase revenue now.
With all that in mind, as you follow the fist 4 reasons to use social media for your business, you will naturally begin to build your brands awareness as an after effect of the work you are doing. If you are posting, relevant and engaging content consistently, you will increase brand awareness.
As we conclude, I think the most important thing for you to determine is something that one of my previous employers often stated.
” Is the work that you are doing, or about to do, going to help you get any closer to your goals?” – John Dillie
You must have a full understanding of what you are trying to accomplish, then based on that analysis, you can decide if social media fits into your strategy.
I would suppose that most everyone would see the importance of using these amazing platforms to meet your individual maketing goals. Hey guys! Many of you have been asking what exactly it is a marketing agency does.
It’s neat hearing family and friends explaining what it is we do at The Straight Path Marketing.
Some explanations have been…
” advertising on Google…”
“post on your Facebook page for you”
“give advise on where your company should spend the advertising budget”
As all these comments are true, although it misses the larger point. Even though utilizing tools like Google and Facebook are among our preferred sources of media, our scope is much larger.
